Tustin Hangars

Perhaps not the most elegant buildings to grace this list, these NRHP-listed hangars of a former air force base are noteworthy nonetheless. The engineering that went into the building of such large wooden structures is astounding. Standing at 17 stories high, 1,000 feet long, and 300 feet wide, these buildings were originally intended to shelter airships. Most recently, they were a bay for combat helicopters before the decommissioning of the base. (2017)
